Day 191, Year 1
The Lord with You, and you with the Lord
“… I … with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20b NASB)
How would you feel when you are face-to-face with the Lord Jesus, and when He looks right at you? Some might feel safe, comfortable, at ease, or happy, etc. while others might feel nervous, unsettled, scared, or fearful, etc. The feelings that arise when we meet Jesus face-to-face could often reveal what we need to do. In short, if you feel negative, it may be time to solve your life problems; but if you regard it as positive, it is time to know Him more.
If you feel nervous, scared, or unsettled when facing Jesus alone, it might be a sign that, deep down, you do not actually want to see Him. People often have certain things inside that they know the Lord disapproves of, yet they hold onto them. Hence, they would feel uneasy when they encounter the Lord. These tensions and uneasiness are indicators that people should actively solve the problems within themselves. Therefore, if you feel a bit uneasy when you envision meeting the Lord Jesus, “He with you, you with Him,” then quickly tackle those things in your life that Jesus would not like to see.
On the contrary, if you would feel safe, happy, etc. when facing the Lord Jesus, it means you have been longing for this encounter. You will enjoy being in His presence. Jesus also hopes to bestow more grace upon you through your prayers when He meets you, such as solving your long-standing problems, meeting your needs, healing your sickness, delivering you from bondages, etc. In today’s verse, Jesus’ appearance is not intended to condemn or judge believers, but to invite us to receive more of His grace, which includes a “dinner,” a spiritual banquet.
Meeting the Lord Jesus face-to-face is a personal time to listen to Him and also a time to see everything through Him. “He with me,” mentioned in the verse, does not mean that people will only see Jesus. In my opinion, it is time to bring ourselves and everything in the world we know before Him. From then on, you, the world around you, and the people in your life will be presented to the Lord. You can listen to His explanations and guidance, find joy in His presence, and communicate with Him freely.
Reflection questions:
1) If you were to meet the Lord Jesus face-to-face and be alone with Him, what would you feel? Why would you perceive that way?
2) At this moment, when you meet the Lord Jesus, what would you ask for or what would you want to talk about? Please take some time for a prayer.
